Fotoshoot sea urchins

We just had a lovely photo shoot with our favoured photographer Mara Monetti.
She always does a great job and have a look on our sea urchin cushions. They look wonderful.

silence for molto luce

Here are the first images of the series of lampshades which were designed in a co-operation of doc form and studio taschide for molto luce.

The lamp called 'silence' is available as a pendant, floor or table lamp.

Lilie, the cloth hook from studio taschide is now produced from the company pulpo.

Hanami in Frankfurt

As we announced in the newsletter and one post before, Sandra Tan (studio taschide), Susanne Stahl (designe, kleine!) and Johannes Schiebe (studio taschide) arranged a very lovley exhibition with their new label 'SUSAN & JOHN'.

They celebrated the cherry blossom with over 5000 paper blossom, which they folded by themselves.

The folded paper got mounted to a wood structure underneath the celling.

Round wooden boxes were mounted to the wall and carried besides more blossom also little phrases and thoughts about the Hanami , the cherry blossom and transience.

Even the room smelt like cherry blossoms.

We really looking forward to see more of them and we are excited what the '2. MAL' is going to look like.

Studio taschide wants to invite you to the exhibition '1.MAL' from 'SUSAN & JOHN' in Frankfurt.

'SUSAN & JOHN' is a co-operation of the two designer Sandra Tan and Johannes Schiebe (studio taschide) and the architect Susanne Stahl (designe, kleine!). The focus of their work are concepts for rooms or public spaces.

Their first exhibition is going to be from the 27th-29th March at the Brückstraße 36 in Frankfurt. Open hours are on Friday from 19 h until Midnight (Vernissage) and on Saturday and Sunday from 11h-18h.

New Mirror Designs

We did for the Ambiente Fair in Frankfurt a couple of new shapes for our Mirror, Mirror on the Wall collection.

Little Saigon is a combination of 4 Japanese lantern. Together they make up a big mirror and the very special details are the contour-cuts as reference to the traditional drawing on the outside.

studio taschide design

Lots of thing have happend recently and I will try to get the most important ones out this weekend.

First of all, I want to start with our designs for the schönbuch collection. First design is Staple.

Set it up, and tidiness prevails. Seemingly weightless, STAPLE is typical of the best in modern interior design. A solid wood coat rack, it quite simply rests against the wall: minimalist Zen style and top-level craftsmanship in wood. It's ideal if rooms are small but the flow of visitors is larger: STAPLE can be stacked to save space when it's not needed. Before the guests arrive, the vertically stacked units are simply rested next to one another against the wall - and coat storage space multiplies immediately!

The second design is ABOVE.

Pure poetry. ABOVE has four wall hooks with different white bird outlines: seagulls that seem to be flying in front of the wall. Together, they catch the eye in a very special way. Behind each seagull is a spacing rod for a coat hanger. There is also a small hook on the wall mounting, from which an additional item can be hung.

And 0170, a very nice design for a set of coat hangers.

Practical, poetic and bringers of good cheer: the 0170 COAT HANGERS. The bird and leaf motifs on this laser-cut aluminium coat hanger set resemble delicate shadow patterns. The trio consists of a plain hanger, one with a bird motif and one with tendrils of gingko leaves. Together, they are an imaginative eye-catcher on the coat stand, in particular when they are not concealed by clothing.

sea urchins from taschide

Here is our latest foto shoot with our sea urchins, done at the showroom of studio morgen in Frankfurt. We are just about to finish our second batch of them. Still the inside of the knitted urchins are fiiled with spelts, but we are working on different patterns and designs. Have a look on our blog from time to time. We will publish them as soon as we have images of them.

If the international trendsetter are right, the upcoming year is going to be a a good and busy one for us. E.g. the British trend consultancy 'trend bible' published several products and ideas from us and titled them as trend for 2009 and 2010. We are really looking forward to that!

DESIGNERSBLOCK LONDON `08

Here are some pictures of our stand at Designersblock 2008 in London. We presented some of very new designs.

First the sea urchins. Very comfortable cushions for the floor. They come in different colours and three different sizes.

Second, our new little lamp shades 'little lace'. The exhibitors really loved the idea of the shade.

And finally our new wardrobe 'ribbon'.

In all, it was a very nice and successful exhibition for us and the team of the Designersblock was great. Everything went very well and we will be there next year.

After a short break, we try to catch up with a few things.

We presented our new napkin ring at the Tendence 2008 in Frankfurt. Below an image of the ring.

We also won a price for two taschide products. The stools+socks and the 3d Stickers got the FORM 2008 award.

taschide made it to Belgium

Finally taschide made it to Belgium.

The magazine DAMn did a very nice article about lovely products and our Gridle of Flowers was published by them.

New Product – little lace

Just before the Tendence 2008 in Frankfurt, we are proud to present one of two new products. As you can see, it is a lampshade with a little lace. You mount it easily to the lamp holder. The lace is covering the brightness of the light bulb, but it still lets enough light into the room.

You close the shade with a string at the back and obviously you get it in black and white.

The second new product will come in about a week.

In March and April we had publications in Hong Kong and in England.
In Hong Kong we were in the ELLE Decoration and in Britain the magazine REAL HOMES published an images of our hooks in connection with one of our retailer in there 'gingerbreadhome'.

sleeping beauty as floor lamp

This is our already known lamp shade 'sleeping beauty', but what you haven´t seen before is our new stand for the shade. We presented it as one of our new designs at the Salone Satellite 2008.

The special thing about this floor lamp is the light source.

taschide means necessary

Our studio name 'taschide' is a made up word. It is put together from our last names and our profession.

tan + schiebe + design -> taschide

Now we found a text on the internet (as you can see on the image) saying, that there was a word 'taschide' in the Celtic language. There, 'taschide' is translated with the Latin word neccessarius which means necessary.

Luck us, it could have been worth!

taschide family in milan

This is us, the taschide family, on there way to Milan.
Since 2 weeks we are back now and it was quite a journey. We both lost a bit of weight in fact of all the hectic, but it was worth it. We made a lot of contacts and believe it or not some of our designs will get in production.

This was our 16 qm booth at the salone satellite. Two things got on very well. The new stand for the sleeping beauty and the idea of knitting wooden exhibition boxes.

And yes, we got nominated for our design. Hopefully it will be shown in the next issue of the Design Report.

We are in the middle of our preparations for the milan fair. The questions are white socks or stripy ones, long or short schemel and so on? A lot of thing to manage, but hopefully we will get it done. As soon as we have decide, we will let you know.
